Water is water, in any one of its three states. While I'm not fond of playing in steam, the liquid and the solid states do me just fine. Snow and winter activities just extend my love of water play into the cold weather months. With the possible exception of diving, it's pretty much the same thing with a lot more clothes on... and the scenery is different. You can still ski on it, ride fast machines on it, fish in it, and walk in it while it is falling and enjoy its beauty. A fire on the beach on a warm summer night or a fire in the chiminea in the mountains on a cold winter night... I'm just as happy either way.
